Help Us Open Our First Women's Center In Iraq

Thousands of women have fled war and terror in Syria and the Mosul and Sinjar regions of Iraq to the safety of the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq.

DONATE NOW to help us open a center for refugee and displaced women.

You can help provide a safe center for women, babies and young children; a place of friendship, acceptance, information and learning.

With no safe water supply for infants and limited ability to keep feeding supplies clean, it is vital that mothers successfully breastfeed their infants. Home is now either a tent or a converted steel shipping container in a region which faces summer temperatures up to 44c (111f).

Help us open a center for refugee and internally displaced women near Khanke camp

Help change the lives of women who have fled war and terror; who are birthing and bringing up their babies in crowded camps far from home, with no idea when they may be able to return.

The center will give them a place where they can retreat for a time from the harshness of camp living; where reproductive healthcare information, breastfeeding help and encouragement can be provided, friendships can be forged and women’s lives can be made a little fuller.

Mother supporting mother,
woman empowering woman

Traditional birth attendants and female community workers have asked NPI for a space they can work from to provide their support. We want to honor this request and support these women in their important work by providing up-to-date education and training.

The women's house will be a center for providing training and support to traditional birth attendants, community workers and other women providing vital care in their communities.

BEFORE ... please help us transform this into our first women's center in Iraq!

We have found a house in which to base the center, but we need your support to transform it into a welcoming and vibrant space.

Your donation will help provide:

  • Furnishings
  • Decoration
  • Electricity
  • Program supplies
  • Training materials
  • Salaries for local workers such as a security guard and cleaner
  • A van and driver to bring women to the house who live too far away in the camp to walk

Help furnish and decorate the women's center to make it a vibrant and welcoming space.
