This is the worst I have ever seen. There are babies everywhere.
— NPI staff member, Cox Bazar

It is imperative that we deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance to over 400,000 recently arrived Rohingya in Bangladesh as quickly as possible. NPI needs your help to provide maternal and reproductive healthcare and Infant and Young child Feeding Programs in Cox's Bazar. We urgently call on our supporters to help us by donating to our Bangladesh Appeal today.

On 12 September, the Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) reported that an estimated 379,000 people have entered Bangladesh since the attacks. It is estimated that 80 per cent of the new arrivals are children and women including newborn babies and pregnant women.  The conditions are overcrowded and many people are staying in open air settlements without proper shelter.  It is estimated that 15,000 or more are still arriving daily.

New arrivals are coming from areas where the nutrition status of the overall population is already a concern, the most vulnerable being children aged 0 to 2 years old. Many of the women arriving are pregnant or have just given birth.  NPI will build mother and baby spaces staffed with infant nutrition specialists, lactation consultants, midwives, and medical staff.  We will provide support to already overburdened local clinics and we will work within the camps and communities to provide lactation and infant feeding support.

But we can't do it alone.  We need your help.

Please consider donating today to support our life saving interventions.

If you can, please consider becoming a regular supporter of NPI by selecting the "recurring" option on the donation form below. A regular donation of $25 goes a long way in building up NPI's capacity to provide maternal and infant health support to mothers in Bangladesh.

If you have any difficulty with this donation form, please contact us and we would be happy to assist you.
